@RMerlinDev If I wanted the best new modern Asus Router (cost is not an issue) that you see them supporting for a while, what would you get? AX-88U?

I heard the AX-86U is similar hardware but a little weaker on 2.4ghz...

@RFordMotivaSpkr @RMerlinDev This drives me batty about Asus. I wish they'd release fewer models and focus more on firmware updates. Maybe then they'd be more mainstream in stores. I made the mistake of getting the 87U back in the day. It used a weirdo chipset and they rarely updated it. Avoid obscure models

I really want to replace my AC-87U with something as long-lived as the AC-68U, but want to make sure it's future proof. I guess I can go with the AX-88U, but still waiting for prices to drop.

@RMerlinDev @protikdas Problem I have with Asus is that they keep pumping out all these models and it's hard to support them all. If I were them, I'd just have an entry level, mid range, high end, and gaming model

Also, no guarantee Asus will support any router as long as they have supported 68U

@RMerlinDev @protikdas I'm waiting for a 6E flagship that will have years of support (like the AC68U). I was debating about getting an AX88U, since it seems to be the ax flagship, but it's still expensive and hard to find.

I got burned with the abomination that was the AC87U

@sadlercj @RMerlinDev I am SO mad I bought the 87U a few years ago... Whatever bullshit chipset they went with, Asus hardly ever updates it. It's always behind Merlin builds because they don't release GPL code for it.

Also drops iOS devices like crazy. No issue with laptops or Androids
