| @RMerlinDev @TwitterSupport Fair points. Not sure what the next best replacement will tun out to be. It's a company backed by Jack, and that depends if you trust the ATProtocol https://t.co/sW77saO0Gc over Mastodon. Mastodon seems a little too fragmented and complex for non-technical people In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Wednesday, July 05, 2023 10:07:50 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev @TwitterSupport I don't have any BlueSky invites or I'd send you one In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Tuesday, July 04, 2023 6:03:01 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev @alan925 Are VLANs gong to be added to the AX86U, or only the newest generation models? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Friday, March 03, 2023 11:56:03 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Sorry to hear about the hardware failure and glad you're back on track. What's new in 388 vs 386? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Wednesday, September 28, 2022 2:06:59 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Is there a limit to number of clients on a 2.4ghz guest network? I didn't use up the whole DHCP pool. My smart plugs have been disconnecting, and when I contacted support they said the router failed to assign the plug an IP. RT-AX86U. | Friday, July 22, 2022 10:50:43 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev I noticed in your changelog, you merged with GPL 386_45581 for the next release. How does that compare with the Asus firmware for the ax86u? Are these fixes included? https://t.co/5gM5AmCaig | Tuesday, November 30, 2021 1:12:53 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev How difficult is all your custom OpenVPN changes you've just worked on compared with the Asus changes? Or did you know about this and design it so it'd be easy to reconcile? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Tuesday, August 31, 2021 11:37:27 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Appreciate your feedback & response. It's also a little newer, cheaper, and looks like ASUS dropped their 386.42840 update before the AX-88U. As long as it will have strong Merlin support, I'm down! In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Wednesday, June 02, 2021 11:53:20 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev If I wanted the best new modern Asus Router (cost is not an issue) that you see them supporting for a while, what would you get? AX-88U? I heard the AX-86U is similar hardware but a little weaker on 2.4ghz... In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Wednesday, June 02, 2021 10:51:58 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Is there a limit on # of WiFi5 devices on one band (2.4ghz) on the AX88U before it starts getting unstable? I have 5-10 devices that use low bandwidth on an 87u, and the whole network is unstable and has high ping. 5ghz is fine | Tuesday, May 18, 2021 2:22:27 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RFordMotivaSpkr @RMerlinDev This drives me batty about Asus. I wish they'd release fewer models and focus more on firmware updates. Maybe then they'd be more mainstream in stores. I made the mistake of getting the 87U back in the day. It used a weirdo chipset and they rarely updated it. Avoid obscure models In reply to @RFordMotivaSpkr's tweet | Friday, April 30, 2021 9:59:45 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev WiFi 6E? I really want to replace my AC-87U with something as long-lived as the AC-68U, but want to make sure it's future proof. I guess I can go with the AX-88U, but still waiting for prices to drop. In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Thursday, April 15, 2021 2:48:50 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev @protikdas Problem I have with Asus is that they keep pumping out all these models and it's hard to support them all. If I were them, I'd just have an entry level, mid range, high end, and gaming model Also, no guarantee Asus will support any router as long as they have supported 68U In reply to @portfolioso's tweet | Monday, February 08, 2021 3:05:59 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev @protikdas I'm waiting for a 6E flagship that will have years of support (like the AC68U). I was debating about getting an AX88U, since it seems to be the ax flagship, but it's still expensive and hard to find. I got burned with the abomination that was the AC87U In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, February 08, 2021 3:03:31 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev I completely get that it takes time and testing to integrate their GPL into the Merlin builds... So in theory, their two latest releases are not yet integrated? In reply to @portfolioso's tweet | Monday, August 17, 2020 12:57:29 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Question.... Does ASUS provide you unreleased SDKs? If I look at their official changelog, does this mean if you use the latest Merlin build on an AX88U, we're only getting binaries from 5/14? https://t.co/dxY7AM2vfS In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, August 17, 2020 12:55:12 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev From your experience, which Asus AX model do they seem to update the most? I'm looking for the AX equivalent to the AC68U. I want the best possible AX model that you think will be supported for a long time. (I was burned by their awful support for the AC-87U) | Wednesday, July 01, 2020 2:15:23 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Is this something you anticipate that they'll do with all the newer models "in the name of security?" Could this cause issues for people trying to use Asus-Merlin in the future? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, April 06, 2020 11:32:11 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Is there any way to export the "Traffic Analyzer - Statistic" graphs as a PDF/image or a table of the data? | Monday, March 30, 2020 12:46:28 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Did that lower the throughput or signal? 🤣 In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Saturday, March 21, 2020 4:52:16 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev They are unpredictable. Which would you say is the best performing that works on your firmware as if right now? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Friday, February 07, 2020 7:54:09 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev If budget is not an issue, what is the newest/best ASUS router I could buy, that will have ASUS and Merlin Firmware support for a long time? I want to upgrade my 87U (iOS devices and 5G have been dropping a lot lately) | Friday, February 07, 2020 11:38:14 AM | Twitter Web App |
| @sadlercj @RMerlinDev I am SO mad I bought the 87U a few years ago... Whatever bullshit chipset they went with, Asus hardly ever updates it. It's always behind Merlin builds because they don't release GPL code for it. Also drops iOS devices like crazy. No issue with laptops or Androids | Tuesday, January 21, 2020 3:14:18 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Thank you! Assuming that all the known issues from 384.9 are still issues, since I don't see any updated ASUS code except for the AX88U, right? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, March 25, 2019 2:07:48 PM | Twitter Web App |
| @RMerlinDev Do you think this will be Asus' new flagship, like the 68u and 86u? I have an 87u and it is very apparent they don't care about updating it to 384. I want to get a model where they actively develop the firmware for it for years In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Sunday, November 25, 2018 3:37:24 PM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev Thank you for your reply and for what you do In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, July 23, 2018 1:52:21 AM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev OK. Would we eventually see all of the improvements in your firmware from 384.6 once ASUS releases the GPL source code for the 87u? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Monday, July 23, 2018 12:08:17 AM | Twitter Web Client |
| @RMerlinDev If price was no object, what would your preferred ASUS router be (taking into consideration how well it's supported by ASUS and fast hardware)? In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Friday, July 20, 2018 10:12:44 AM | Twitter Web Client |
| @RMerlinDev is it true ASUS released 3.0.0.4.382.50702 GPL for the 87U? I'm assuming this won't make it to your 384.6 firmware. Assuming ASUS keeps releasing updates for it, do I just have to wait for 384.7? | Friday, July 20, 2018 2:28:09 AM | Twitter for Android |
| @RMerlinDev You ever see SSH and httpd hang on the 87u? I can't SSH or use the WebUI unless I power cycle. Happened to me in older versions https://t.co/G5oiUeAwqk | Tuesday, June 27, 2017 10:38:51 PM | Twitter Web Client |

| @RMerlinDev Oh, I was confused by the changelog "defaults to 5 (notice) instead of 0 (emergency)" I thought it got more verbose In reply to @RMerlinDev's tweet | Friday, October 23, 2015 4:32:26 PM | Twitter Web Client |

| @RMerlinDev Flashed RTAC68 to 378.51 & lost WAN. DNS resolved to 10.x.x. Ran WAN autodetect and it fixed it, reboot didn't. Any complaints? | Sunday, March 08, 2015 11:56:45 PM | Twitter Web Client |
